In addition to their rigorous educational and clinical backgrounds, all our providers hold board-certifications in either anatomic and clinical pathology, dermatology, or dermatopathology.

Curtis Thompson, MD


Dr. Thompson is a graduate of Baylor College of Medicine and completed both his residency and fellowship training at the University of California San Francisco. He is board certified in dermatopathology and anatomic pathology, with expertise in alopecia and diseases of the nail unit.

Jessica Spies, MD


Dr. Spies completed medical school at the University of Alabama Birmingham and is double board-certified in anatomic & clinical pathology and dermatopathology. After completing two residencies at UC Davis and University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, she went on to complete her dermatopathology fellowship at Cornell University Medical Center.

Stephen Pool, MD


Dr. Pool holds 30 years of experience in dermatopathology and is double board-certified in anatomic & clinical pathology and dermatopathology. Upon attaining his medical degree at McGill University, he went on to complete a residency and fellowship at Beth Israel Hospital and his dermatopathology fellowship at Harvard Medical School.

Brian Schapiro, MD


Dr. Schapiro holds over 25 years of dermatopathology experience and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and dermatopathology. He completed his pathology residency at Tufts Medical Center in Boston and his dermatopathology fellowship at Harvard under Dr. Wallace Clark.

James Ramirez, MD


Dr. Ramirez is a graduate of Wayne State University and completed his dermatopathology fellowship at Northwestern University under the mentorship of Joan Guitart. He is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and dermatopathology and holds 17 years of experience in dermatopathology.

Jessica Ghaferi, MD


Dr. Ghaferi is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine with over 15 years of professional experience, having completed residency at Henry Ford Health and her fellowship at the University of Michigan. She holds board certifications in both dermatology and dermatopathology.

Tyler Menge, MD


Dr. Menge completed medical school at the University of Michigan and is board certified in dermatology and dermatopathology. He completed his dermatopathology fellowship at the University of Michigan Health System and dermatology residency at the Harvard Combined Dermatology Residency Training Program.

Melanie Kuechle, MD


Dr. Kuechle is a board-certified dermatologist specializing in immunodermatology and immunopathology. She is a graduate of Baylor College of Medicine, and later completed two dermatology residencies and an immunodermatology fellowship at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine.

Todd Kobayashi, MD


Dr. Kobayashi received his medical degree at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences after graduating from the United States Air Force Academy. He is double board-certified in dermatology and dermatopathology, and completed his dermatology residency with the USAF and his dermatopathology fellowship at the University of Colorado Denver.

Brent Accurso, DDS


Dr. Accurso is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial pathologist and received his DDS from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. He completed a GPR residency at Carolinas Medical Center and an OMFP residency at Ohio State University, before going on to also attain his MPH from Ohio State University.

Brent Martin, DMD


Dr. Martin is a graduate of Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine and is board-certified in oral & maxillofacial pathology. He finished his AEGD residency while serving in the US Army, and his OMFP residency and MS degree from Ohio State University.

Nicholas Zoumberos, MD


Dr. Zoumberos completed medical school at Tulane University and is board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and dermatopathology. He went on to complete his pathology residency and dermatopathology fellowship at the University of Michigan.
